With Christmas at its peak during this season, it’s very likely that most Jewish patrons feel a bit left out as their holy festival of Hanukkah is somewhat overshadowed upon. We know that there is absolutely nothing wrong with celebrating Christmas with your kids just for the heck of it but with Santa everywhere, it can be a bit tedious in trying to get your children excited about their own heritage. However, thanks to the efforts of Appoet Studios, you can finally tell the story of Hanukkah to their children with the help of their newly released interactive book called: Hanukkah the Festival of Lights.
The book, meant for children of 9 and over, tries to explain the whole story of Hanukkah as accurately as it can via the help of its cartoonish illustrations, fun to watch animations and a narrator. While, I myself am not of Jewish ethnicity, I still managed to find the whole book quite informative and interesting as a whole.
The graphics of the book are quite colorful and are designed in an exquisite way which provides an amazing and immersive experience when mixed with the responsive UI and various interactions in order to continue the story. The narration of the book is also done in a way to build the interest of children and avoids the usage of any unnecessary difficult words thus ensuring that your kid understands the whole story fully without being confused about anything.
Now, I know that the app itself isn’t something special like a 4 hour Dickens’s Special about Christmas but it does manage to build and keep the interest of children in its own simplistic way. My only complaint with the app is the lack of a demo, as many parents might want to try the app a bit before they decide to purchase it. Apart from that, considering that the app is a book that’s aimed to provide the story of Hanukkah to children, it does hit the mark quite well and comes recommended from us.
