Jetpack Joyride- strap on a cool jetpack and let’s have a little fun

Have you ever seen a man in Jetpack with a laser gun before? If not then you need to download Jetpack Joyride, the game that’s literally rocking the AppStore and PlayStore. From the creators behind the popular Fruit Ninja game comes another big hit, Jetpack Joyride.

The Story Line

There is just something about a good storyline that I really like when it comes on to games, and Jetpack Joyride has a great storyline. After a hard day at work Barry Steakfries, the game’s hero and is a struggling gramophone salesman, breaks into a secret laboratory to commandeer experimental jetpacks from the clutches of science evildoers. The objective of the game is to get as far as you can without dying.

GamePlay and controls
The first jetpack you start off with is the legendary Machine Gun Jetpack. However, you can collect coins to collect all the other wacky and wild jetpacks like the Snowball, Rainbow and Piggybank Jetpacks amongst others which will rain down bullets, bubbles, rainbows and lasers downwards as you zoom down the corridors of the lab. When you start the game simply touch the screen to ascend and release to descend. When the player lets go, the jetpack turns off, and Barry falls. Because he is continually in motion, the player does not control his speed, simply his movement along the vertical axis. To survive good reflexes are your best weapon to dodge lasers, electricity fields and missiles that come your way.

The objective of the game is to travel as far as possible, collect coins, and avoid hazards such as zappers, missiles and high-intensity laser beams. As the player travels, golden coloured “Spin Tokens” occasionally appear, which the player can collect. At the end of each run, these spin tokens are used in a slot machine (one token gives one spin) which can award the player various prizes, including coins, additional spin tokens, a head-start, a player revival, and explosives that can propel the player’s body some distance after death amongst others. All these and more can be purchase using coins in the Stash (game store)

Power-ups and gadgets
Where should I start with these? They are so many to chose from, and this is one of the thing I believe has really set Jetpack Joyride apart from all the other endless runner games and games with Jetpacks. Let’s start with my favourite, the vehicles. Get a boost along the way with vehicles like the Lil’ Stomper, Profit Bird and Crazy Freaking Teleporter. There is also the rare Strong Arm Machine (SAM) – the ultimate vehicle of destruction and hi-fives vechicle that i think is every player dream to have. There is also the Wave Rider, Bad as HogGet a boost along the way with vehicles like the Lil’ Stomper, Profit Bird and Crazy Freaking Teleporter, each vehicle lasts until he hits an obstacle.

Also to add a little more live to your game play you can also find other items in the Stash such as some cool clothing (yes you can change Barry’s outfit and even give him a cool hairstyle), how about turning in your jetpack for some cool jetpacks? Jetpack Joyride have you covered with jetpacks ranging from Leaf Blower Jetpack to Flying V Jetpack. Tired of how your vehicles are performing? Then why not upgrade them in the Stash? You can also purchase some cool gadgets, buy quick revives, head starts, unlock missions and more. To purchase anything in the Stash you will need game currency which you can earn by playing or if you can’t wait you can buy some with real money. How about competing against your friends to see which one of your can tap the highscore? See how you and your friends are doing in the Leaderboard or tweet your progress on twitter.

Gone are the days when endless runner games where just that, running games, and since the release of Halfbrick hit game Jetpack Joyride many developers have jumped on the bandwagon releasing games featuring jetpacks actually strap to their character(s). Game developers have realise the impact of having missions in their games and Jetpack Joyride is not short of it as they are hundreds of missions to complete but watch out for the lab is filled with traps that will end your life, but luckily with your jetpack you can easily tap to jump over them or release to fall to the ground.

The thing I don’t like with this game is that items in the stash or a bit too costly, for example a change of hairstyle can cost you up to $10,000 in game currency, but I guess you can always play for long hours to earn enough. However to do this you have to be really good as there is a lot of traps to stop you from reaching very far.
I love the fact that as you play the scenery of the lab changes very few often, therefore bringing a little excitement to the game as you are not seeing the same scenery throughout the entire game. There is simple no dull moment with Jetpack Joyride as it is a fun and enjoyable game.
